What does eve's "Exceptional Voice Everywhere" mean?

eve stands out from many other similar services by using an Adaptive Codec for its softphone apps. This means that eve constantly monitors the connection to a user’s smartphone and is able to turn up and down the amount of bandwidth it uses dynamically depending on performance of the mobile data network.

Mobile data signals inevitably vary in strength as users move around (e.g. when in a car or train) meaning on occasions there is insufficient bandwidth to carry the rate of speech packets generated for the highest speech quality settings. In these situations, rather than simply dropping packets (leading to noticeably poor speech) – as happens with many competitor apps – eve will instantly apply higher compression thereby reducing the packet rate to suit and thus maintains intelligibility. When the connection improves, eve will instantly turn up the settings again.

Cloud vs. On-Premise

One of the biggest decisions businesses make when moving to VoIP is between hosted or on-premise phone systems. Both essentially work the same way, the decision is whether to have a phone system in your office managed by your IT staff or a PBX hosted in the cloud, fully supported and maintained.

If you already have an on-premise system using ISDN phone lines, you may be able to switch to VoIP with no change to your system. If this is not the case, you may look at moving to Hosted VoIP or swapping to a Hybrid PBX. Cloud Business VoIP

Hosted VoIP works in exactly the same way as an on-premise PBX with the same great features. The key difference is processing is managed, updated and supported in the cloud. Your desk phones, mobile apps, and softphones connect directly to the Cloud PBX via your internet connection. This means you can unplug your office phone, plug it in at home, and it simply connects (plug and play), or you can pick-up where you left-off by transferring your calls to your mobile.

On-Premise Business VoIP

On-premise phone system uses SIP Trunks to make VoIP calls over your internet connection. SIP Trunks simply replace all analogue and ISDN copper phone lines. You can run a SIP Trunk over your existing data network, regardless of how many sites this includes. By consolidating your voice and data over one resilient connection, you can unify all of your traffic with a single supplier.

SIP brings about many benefits:

  • Potential for improved cost efficiency and cost savings
  • Additional users can be added quickly without having to wait for more circuits to be installed
  • Users can be routed to other sites quickly, so you control where phone service is being provided

 

If you already own a PBX system but is not compatible with SIP, it is possible to install a Hybrid system that is compatible with your digital desk phones. A Hybrid solution will provide low-cost calling benefits of VoIP without having to replace your entire system. New IP phones and media devices can be introduced so you can benefit from additional features of Unified Communications & Collaboration.

On-premise PBX is considered an Enterprise IP Voice solution. With this solution you pay for the SIP Lines, not per user.

How long does it take to setup

10 to 12 working days to setup your licence and configure your services.

On-Hold & VoiceMail

Auto-attendant can be setup so your calls hear a recorded message to hold or an to select an option to leave a voicemail. All voicemail recordings are emailed to you immediately. We can also provide professional voice and music recordings for callers on hold.

Are there any setup costs

Yes, there are charges for number porting or new numbers, handsets and peripherals and any on-site engineer time. If you choose to migrate to Connect+ broadband there will be a small setup cost.

I’ve got two numbers currently, can I keep both

Yes, you can keep all the numbers you have and move them to the cloud. Once moved you can use them for hunt groups, direct dial and specific campaigns

Do you offer Maintenance

Maintenance is not required for cloud phone systems so we offer free support for the lifetime of your contract.

What happens if broadband goes down

At setup, we will discuss and agree a disaster recovery plan with you. This includes diverting calls to smartphones on 4G or any other UK number you choose.

Do you supply hardware and installation

We provide a selection of desktop handsets from Mitel, Yealink and Polycom and Netgear switches. If you don’t already have an IT network, we can provided all switches and cabling required as well as fully qualified IT engineers to complete your installation.
